In the headlights

An anti-glare windscreen has scooped top prize in the Enterprise Ireland 2005 Technology awards.

A team from Queens University Belfast demonstrated its “Smartscreen” technology, which reduces windscreen glare and minimises diver distraction and impaired vision caused by the headlights of an oncoming car or low-angle sunlight.

The pioneering system uses the latest image sensitive technology and LCD panels to protect the driver from glare.

Enterprise Minister Michael Martin presented the winning team with its award.
