Workers take to the street over pay rates

Upwards on 300 workers walked off the job at a number of quarry facilities owned by Frank Harrington Ltd in counties Mayo, Galway and Sligo in a dispute over rates of pay.

The affected plants were in Kilkelly and Castlebar in Co. Mayo, Claregalway in Co. Galway and Ballysodare in Co. Sligo.
The workers included truck and digger operators, machine operators, welders, steel fabricators and administrative staff.

The workers are threatening to remain outside the plants until they get improved rates of pay from the company.
