Engenio to set up in Cork

Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., a global provider of innovative and scalable modular storage systems, is to establish a global operations and supply chain management centre in Cork.

The new centre will support a wide range of operations including product manufacturing and testing, scheduling and order fulfillment to Engenio customers around the world.

The centre, to be located in Cork’s established technology zone, is being supported by a grant from IDA Ireland. The company first established a presence in Cork in 2000 to supply European customers.

“The continuing growth of a ‘data storage cluster’ in Cork is critical to the future development of the IT industry here,” said Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin TD. “The new Engenio centre will make a major contribution to this and represents a significant addition to the storage sector in Ireland.”

“Efficiently managing the complex, global relationships with our customers and suppliers is strategic to our ongoing success,” said Tom Georgens, Engenio President and CEO. “The selection of Cork for our expansion is a natural choice, with convenient access to our markets around the world and a highly skilled workforce to support our growth.”

The Cork location gives Engenio access to a well-educated workforce and excellent communications with Europe, the Americas and Asia. With key customers and other storage–related companies nearby and the University College Cork’s technology emphasis, the location is ideal for Engenio’s expansion.
