Banks warns on lack of infrastructure speed

One of the country’s “big four” banks has warned that the Government’s capital investment programme could grind to a halt, because new projects are not getting the green light.

Ulster Bank’s chief economist Pat McArdle says if the trend continues, there will be a major under spend in the Government’s capital investment programme.

McArdle claims that civil engineering firms are now beginning to look over their shoulders for new projects, but these projects aren’t in the pipeline.
