Gama gets quarries green light

Gama Construction has secured planning permission from Clare County Council for two quarries to serve the E190 million Ennis Bypass.

The county council granted planning permission for the quarries, despite the concerns of the Department of Environment, which claims one of the quarries would have a negative impact on a colony of rare bats in the area.

The council has ruled that the impact of the quarry on the bats would not be significant if all measures were put in place.
