Boy (9) dies in quarry tragedy
The Health and Safety Authority (H.S.A.) has launched an investigation
into the death of a nine-year-old boy at a quarry in Co. Donegal.
Jospeh McDevitt, Meenacrieve, Anngry, Co. Donegal died on Monday evening
(August 23) when a pile of stones collapsed on top of him. It is understood
his father was in the quarry making a delivery of oil at the time.
Gardai say the deceased was standing beside a load of stones, which callasped
on him. Attempts to resuscitate him failed and he was pronounced dead
at the scene. It is understood, that the owner of the quarry, which is
located in Annagry, Co. Donegal was also injured in the accident.
The victims body was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where
a post mortem will be carried out.
