Ecstasy tablets seized in Rosslare

A car that had just left the ferry in Rosslare was stopped by Gardai and customs officials where 113,000 ecstacy tablets were found, reported to be worth in the region of Eur1.1 million.

The Saab car was stopped and following a thorough search of the vehicle, the tablets were found stashed in the bumper. The vehicle had travelled from Lithuania through France before boarding the ferry in Cherbourg.

The seizure took place on Saturday night (December 3rd) and a 30-year-old Lithuanian man was arrested by Gardai, while they suspect that other members of the gang are located in Ireland.
This was a major coup for the Gardai as they bid to crackdown on the amount of drugs that are been brought into the country, although it is a never ending battle.
