Irish Ferries threaten Court action
Irish Ferries officials have revealed that they are threatening court
action against Iarnod Eireann following a protest in Rosslare that prevented
one of their ships from docking in the Co. Wexford Port.
SIPTU members at the port have refused to handle the MV Normandy that
operates between Rosslare and Cherbourg and sailings have been forced
to be cancelled until the situation is resolved.
Irish Ferries are now threatening to go to court in order to seek an injunction
against Iarnod Eireann, who actually operate the port. However, it looks
as though until talks between Irish Ferries and trade unions are resolved,
the port will remain a no go area for vessels.
Talks between the concerned parties will begin for a fourth day on Thursday
8th December, although it is reported that a compromise is nowhere near
as Irish Ferries are determined to sail under a different flag.
