Callely considers maximum height decision
The Department of Transport is currently evaluating submissions made by
interested stakeholders on the maximum height issue for HGVs, www.irishtrucker.com
can exclusively reveal.
Department officials are now sifting through the numerous submissions
made by stakeholders, including the Irish Road Haulage Association.
A spokeswoman for Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Ivor
Callely said the submissions are currently being evaluated, after which
the Minister would make his decision.
She revealed: The Minister has indicated that he will make a decision
about whether or not to introduce a vehicle height after he has considered
the responses to the consultative paper.
The Minister recognises that a case can be made for and against
a limit, she added.
The consultative process is completely open and inclusive and is
being undertaken without any predetermined outcome. For this reason the
consultative paper does not indicate a proposed maximum height,
she added.
