Northern truckers oppose maximum height plans

The Northern Ireland branch of the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has made a submission to the Department of Transport opposing proposals to introduce a maximum height restrict for HGVs.

Northern Ireland spokesman Tom Wilson says a maximum height restriction would cause huge problems for cross-border trade.

Wilson commented: “I am disturbed at the failure to consult the road haulage industry in the North. I was only made aware of this consultation a short time ago and unfortunately had insufficient time to respond on behalf of our members before the closing date of January 28.”
