Ford consolidates its position in van market

Ford consolidated its leading position in Ireland’s booming van market in June topping the charts in three commercial segments.

The new Transit retained its standing as the number one selling van in the country, while the new Focus Van led the car-derived segment and in the small van sector the Fiesta Van outpaced the Peugeot 206 for the first time since its introduction. The market for commercials rose 23% in June.

All three models, together with the Transit Connect, combined to give the blue oval a 17% share of the market last month, with a total of 675 registrations, a 15% increase on the same period last year. In January, Ford Ireland recorded its best-ever month for commercial sales.

“Ford is booming in a booming marketplace,” commented Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland. “If you’re looking for a snapshot of the health of the economy, it’s right here.”
“Ford is unique in achieving this hattrick of No.1s among commercials. It shows how well our Transit, Focus and Fiesta vans cater for the different needs of businesses out there. Reliability and value are the lynchpins of Ford’s success in this sector.”

The Fiesta van is available from E14,080, the Focus Van from E19,690 and the Transit from E23,915.
