North Galway quarry plan gets thumbs down

An Bord Pleanala has turned down plans for a new limestone quarry in north Galway.

The board said the main objection to the plan centred on the negative impact the quarry would have on a number of historic local monuments.

The increase in HGV traffic in the area would also have a negative impact, the board stated.
