Toshiba unveils new battery technology

Japanese manufacturer Toshiba has unveiled its latest lithium-ion battery technology, which reduces charging times 60-fold.

The company says its latest battery can be charged to 80 per cent of capacity in just 60 seconds, 60 times faster than conventional batteries.

Toshiba also claims that lifetime performance has been considerably enhanced.
Commercial production is due to commence in the middle of next year.
