IRHA backs blind spot mirror call

The Irish Road Haulage Association has thrown it full support behind Junior Transport Minister Ivor Callely’s plea to the haulage industry to retrofit all trucks in service with blind spot mirrors.

Speaking to www.irishtrucker.com IRHA president Vincent Caulfield said the association fully endorsed the Minister’s call and the recent road safety campaign, which highlighted the dangers for vulnerable road users when interacting with heavy goods vehicles.

“We have been highlighting this issue for the past two years and we have called on our members to fit these mirrors. Once again, we would urge all hauliers to fit the mirrors as a matter of urgency,” he confirmed.
