Blessington aquifer is polluted – An Taisce

Illegal dumping has contaminated the water supply in Blessington, Co. Wicklow, An Taisce has claimed.

An Taisce chairman Frank Corcoran, claims he has documents in his possession from the Department of Environment, which confirm contamination of a water source that is destined to supply water to hundreds of new homes in the town.

The aquifer is located close to the Blessington lakes under Roadstone quarries, where illegal dumping was uncovered in recent years.
Corcoran said on Monday (May 16) that new houses in the area would be getting their water from the aquifer
