Haulage firm negotiating Eur15 million tyre recycling
deal
Midwest Transport are currently in negotiations with a U.S waste firm
to invest Eur15 million in a tyre-recycling plant in the Shannon area.
The Tipperary-based company have announced they are in discussion with
EarthFirst Technologies of Tampa, Florida over the sale of their proposed
tyre-recycling plant. The U.S company are to establish three plants, one
in Ireland and two in Britain.
"We're in a due-diligence process. We've seen the technology and
we're excited by its capability," said Midwest Transport chief financial
officer Tim Ryan.
"We feel that it's environmentally friendly and it will solve the
environmental problem in this country caused by scrapped tyres.
"Subject to satisfactory due diligence and planning approval, the
first plant would be established in the Shannon region."
