Irish earn decent living
A recent survey by the Department of Finance has revealed that Irish people
have never made as much money from their jobs which includes the haulage
industry.
The number of people earning over E50,000 a year has risen to 322,300
this year in contrast to 2001 when only a third of that category earned
so much.
Over 300 PAYE workers earn over one million euro, while 13,200 earned
Eur100,000 in 2001 compared to 50,000 people now.
Minister for Finance Brian Cowen revealed that self-employed people have
also benefited from the boom with 1,300 earning between 500,000 and a
million euro last year.
Despite the high earnings, the haulage industry has suffered a blow due
to the escalating cost of fuel which has hit their profits very hard indeed.
