Irish Ferries protest could expand
A protest march by Irish Ferries' employees could go nationwide as the
problem of employers exchanging well-paying jobs for low-pay contract
workers seems to be increasing.
Under foreign employment regulations, workers can be taken on for far
less than an Irish citizen.
Irish Ferries' employees look set to establlish a precedence by marching
in protest and a number of the country's largest trade unions have given
their full backing to the demonstration.
It is expected that up to 10,000 people could join the protest, which
leaves Liberty Hall at 2pm on Thursday 3rd November.
