Ahern says plan will finish on time and will change system

An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said that the Government’s 10-year transport plan will be finished on time and will radically alter the State’s infrastructure.

He insisted that “lessons had been learned from the past” and that infrastructure programmes were being completed in the time scale and price range intended.
“We need and deserve a first-class transport system in this country. So we have to move from far behind into the lead.

“With Transport 21, we are now moving into the fast lane,” he said.
