Increase in NTR revenue
The National Toll Roads has revealed that there was a seven percent increase
in toll revenue for 2005 that seen the company turnover E50 million.
NTR operate the West Link toll bridge on the M50 motorway as well as the
East link toll in Dublin and the Drogheda by-pass on the M1.
In all, 48 million cars pass through the tolls on an annual basis, with
that statistic breaking down to an average of 130,700 vehicles every day.
The company revealed that traffic flow through the tolls has increased
by four percent last year and that figure is set to further increase over
the next few years.
Regarding the matter of open roads tolling, the company said that talks
with the National Roads Authority were ongoing with a view to meeting
the NRA's deadline of July 2008.
