Convoy causes major disruption

The Irish Road Haulage Associations protest on (Wednesday 5th April) on both sides of the Liffey caused major traffic disruption for motorists.

The aim of the protest was for hauliers to express their anger over the government’s decision to ban them from travelling on the outside lane of motorways and dual carriageways.
If a haulier is caught doing so, they will be handed two penalty points as part of the new system introduced on Monday (April 3rd) last, along with 34 other offences.

The protest took place this morning at peak rush hour traffic as hauliers gathered adjacent to the East Link Toll Bridge at 7am.
