Galway Council investigate quarry planning

Galway County Council has formally issued legal proceedings against Lackagh Quarries over breaches of planning conditions at their service plant.

Work at the quarry has been halted for a month now after councilors unanimously voted to halt all works at the Coolough site after the company allegedly breached the water table.

A report circulated to councilors by the local authority late last week said that the company had quarried to a depth of 2.48m below the 15-metre Ordnum Datum levels approved in the planning conditions.
