IRHA urge retrofit of blind-spot mirrors
The Irish Road Haulage Association has urged the Government to continue
with their plan to make all truck drivers retrofit blind-spot mirrors
on their vehicles.
Such schemes are already implemented in some European countries and IRHA
spokesman Jimmy Quinn believes that the move should be made sooner rather
than later.
It is simple, practical and cheap. The cost of such mirrors is minimal
in the overall context of an E80,000 truck. If it saves one incident such
as bending a panel on a car, never mind preventing an accident, it will
have paid for itself, said Quinn.
