Unpaid charges sees Dublin refuse build up
Up to 900 refuse bins have been left uncollected by Dublin City Council
because of householders refusal to pay annual refuse charges set by the
local authority.
Dublin City Council have issued a get tough policy to refuse collectors,
who have been told not to pick up waste from owners with untagged bins.
If householders continue to refuse to pay for refuse collection then they
could be fined, but independent socialist councillor Joan Collins believes
there is a way around this problem.
What people are doing is putting their bags in the back of the trucks
themselves. If the council wont pick up waste well organise
public points where people can put their bags and well ask the council
to pick them up, said Collins.
