New engines and important enhancements to the exterior, interior and chassis:

DAF renews the LF- and CF-Series
- Renewed exterior: sturdy and elegant
- Renewed interior: stylish and practical
- New PACCAR engines with DAF SCR Technology for Euro 4 and Euro 5
- Up to 4 percent lower fuel consumption
- Optimised chassis layout
- Economical operating costs

Following on from start of production of the new DAF XF105 in January 2006, series production of the renewed DAF LF and CF Series will start in May. These are characterised by a completely new programme of state-of-the-art PACCAR engines with DAF SCR Technology for Euro 4 and Euro 5, an optimised chassis layout, a new interior design and an even more modern appearance. The LF, which is available in Euro 4 version and the CF, which is available in Euro 4 and Euro 5 version, are ready for the next successful step.

With a sturdy and elegant exterior design, a spacious, comfortable and easily accessible cab, trend-setting driving characteristics, superior efficiency and proven reliability and durability, the DAF LF and CF Series have an excellent reputation with operators and drivers. The DAF LF in the distribution segment from 6 to 21 tonnes GVW; the CF - for a multitude of applications - with GVWs from 18 tonnes to combination weights of 40 tonnes and more.

DAF SCR Technology
One of the important development criteria for the renewed LF and CF Series were the strict Euro 4 emission requirements, that will come into force in October 2006, and which will be followed in 2009 by even stricter Euro 5 requirements. The renewed LF and CF Series use the SCR technology, the best and currently most economical solution for meeting the Euro 4 ánd Euro 5 emission requirements. Here, AdBlue is injected into the exhaust gases, so that in the DeNOx catalytic converter the nitrogen oxides are converted into the harmles substances nitrogen and water. SCR technology is relatively simple and thus extremely reliable and efficient. Because this emissions after-treatment technology has no effect on the engine, the engine settings can be optimised to achieve ideal combustion and low fuel consumption. However, DAF SCR technology goes even further.

The introduction of DAF SCR Technology coincides with the introduction of a completely new series of PACCAR engines that set the standards in terms of fuel consumption, reliability and service life. All engines use an advanced high-pressure fuel-injection system for the highest possible efficiency and the lowest possible emission of particulate matter. To meet the strict requirement of 0.02 grams per kW/h, is achieved without a soot filter being required on the new LF and CF Series.New engines and AS-Tronic for the LF Series

The renewed LF is equipped with the new PACCAR FR and GR Euro 4 emission level engines with four and six cylinders respectively. The new PACCAR FR engine has a capacity of 4.5 litres with outputs from 104 kW/140 hp to 136 kW/180 hp. The six-cylinder PACCAR GR engine has a capacity of 6.7 litres and offers a range of outputs from 168 kW/220 hp to 212 kW/280 hp. Partly as a result of the increased cylinder capacity and the application of high-pressure common-rail fuel injection, the new engines provide up to around 22% extra torque for maximum pulling power and flexibility, compared to the 3.9 litre and 5.9 litre PACCAR Euro 3 engines. Furthermore, the LF is now available with an automated AS-Tronic six-speed gearbox, which offers major benefits for distribution transport.

Complete new range of engines for the CF Series
The renewed CF65 series is supplied with the 6.7 litre PACCAR GR engine with outputs of 168 kW / 220 hp to 212 kW / 280 hp. The engine can be coupled to the new automated AS-Tronic six-speed gearbox, if required.
The CF75 is fitted with the 9.2 litre PACCAR PR engine which was unveiled at the European Road Transport Show in Amsterdam last year and which has outputs of 183 kW/250 hp to 265 kW/360 hp. The PACCAR PR engine is characterised by a number of advanced technologies that DAF also uses on the new 12.9 litre MX engine, such as the SMART high-pressure injection system and encapsulated electrical wiring for maximum reliability and durability.

The new CF85 is equiped with the 12.9 litre PACCAR MX engine. In the CF85 it offers outputs of 265 kW/360 hp to 375 kW/510 hp. The PACCAR PR and MX engines are available for both the Euro 4 and Euro 5 emission values.
All the new PACCAR engines combine excellent performance and flexibility with economical fuel consumption that, partly as a result of the DAF SCR technology, is around 4 percent better than comparable Euro 3 engines. Together with service intervals, which have been further extended to a maximum of 55,000 kilometres for the LF and to a maximum of 150,000 kilometres for the CF (depending on type and use), this offers an excellent basis for favourable operating costs and maximum vehicle availability.

New chassis layout
Packaging the air reservoirs and other components wherever possible on the inside of the chassis, has created large space for body mountings, tool boxes or the largest possible fuel tanks, for example. The DeNOx installation requires very little room because it is compactly designed. Consequently, fuel tanks with a total capacity of 1,500 litres can still be installed on the CF tractor, for example. Based on this, the AdBlue tank has a capacity of up to 75 litres, which is large enough to cover an operational radius of up to 5,000 kilometres. On the LF, the AdBlue tank has a capacity of 26 litres, sufficient for an operational radius of up to 2,500 kilometres.

Inviting interiors
For the renewed interiors of the LF and CF Series, DAF has taken the highest quality standards of the new XF105 flagship model as the standard. The spacious interiors have a cosy feeling thanks to new colours and offer the highest quality in terms of finishing and materials used. The renewed LF and CF have a new instrument panel, with extremely clear, large dials and smart chrome finishing. There is a display in the centre of the dashboard that provides information about vital vehicle and engine functions in any of the twelve possible languages. A new feature is the comfortable steering wheel with optional airbag and integrated switches for operating the cruise control, adjustable speed limiter, engine brake and telephone, etc. Other important functions (including that of the automated gearbox with the CF) are easy to operate via stalks on the steering column. In the LF, the operating units of the automated AS-Tronic gearbox are located within easy reach, beside the driver's seat.

For optimum ease of operation, the digital tachograph has been given a place above the windscreen in the LF, where two extra DIN slots have been installed for fitting, for example, audio equipment. In the CF, there are now three DIN slots in the dashboard, so that in addition to an audio installation, a large display for a blind spot camera or for a navigation or telematics system can be installed. The tachograph is still located above the windscreen.
Modern exterior design
Subtle changes have been made to the exterior of the new LF and CF and in such a way that the existing fleet will not become dated. On the LF, both the top and bottom grilles have been redesigned. Just as with the CF and the XF105, a smart aluminium trim has been added to the bottom grille to signify that the vehicles meet the strictest emission requirements. Together with the larger outside mirrors for even greater visibility and the optional cat's eye combilamps in the metal bumper, an even more modern appearance is obtained and, just as importantly, safety is further improved.

DAF has improved the highly-esteemed LF and CF even further. With a renewed exterior design that is even more modern. With many changes in the interior, each contributing to a further increase in ergonomics and driver comfort that are almost unknown in these classes. The chassis layout is optimised and, together with the state-of-the-art PACCAR engines with DAF SCR technology for Euro 4 and 5, the arrival of the new LF and CF signifies a new step in low operating costs, in transport efficiency and especially: in quality. In all aspects.
