M50 chaos in store
Just when motorists thought the delays on the M50 could not get any worse,
it has been reported that there is no contingency plan in place to deal
with the 2,500 extra trucks that will be travelling on the motorway once
the Dublin Port Tunnel opens later in the year.
It has also been revealed that NTR, the company operating the Westlink
had breached its contract over the level of service it should provide
for the motorists. The motorway is currently handling more vehicles than
it can cater for and with an added 2,500 expected to pour on to the motorway
in May, motorists can expect utter chaos.
In the long term there are plans to widen the motorway, however this will
not be complete for at least two years, leaving motorists with a nightmare
time in store.
