New business called to enhance Liffey
There have been calls from the Dockland Authority for businesses to be
established along the River Liffey, which could benefit the haulage industry.
The Docklands Authority is offering opportunities for ships, crafts and
other vessels to be moored and based in the heart of Dublin to provide
recreational and tourist facilities.
The significance of the River Liffey to the docklands regeneration
project cannot be over-emphasised, said Paul Maloney, chief executive
of the Docklands Authority.
This part of Dublin used to be the centre of our maritime industry
and now we are putting out calls to bring some of that bustle and life
back to the river.
