Fishing industry told of need to unite

The chairman of Allied Irish Bank’s marine and fishing steering group has stated that there should be a united approach to solving the problems in the industry.

The group oversees lending to the fishing industry. Art Kavanagh, AIB manager in Killybegs, Co. Donegal, has said the town has been deprived of young people in the town as jobs were being lost to fishing.
The issue will be the focus of attention at the biennial national exhibition, Fish Ireland. A number of industry organisations have supported Mr Kavanagh’s view.
