Motor sales soar
There has been a huge increase in new cars on Irish roads after it was
revealed that sales have increased by nine per cent from this time last
year.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) shows that February is
up 4% from last year with 25,636 cars sold during the second month of
the year.
In all there has almost been six thousand extra cars sold this year compared
to 2005 when 62,945 were sold. Toyota holds the number one spot in sales.
SIMI Chief Executive Cyril McHugh said: The commissioner said that
the Irish government should start to phase out VRT over a 10-year period
as it is a gross interference in the free movement of goods in the single
market.
