Home owners seek Tunnel compensation

Over 230 householders along the Dublin Port Tunnel route are claiming Eu1.5 million for damages to their homes caused by development work on the project.

It was revealed on Wednesday that 235 residents have been in contact with the Dublin City Council to state that they will be claiming compensation for structural damage.

The drilling operation for the Port Tunnel caused vibrations along the routes and this in turn caused cracks to appear in the houses.
A Building Guarantee Scheme has been put in place by the Dublin City Council for householders within a 30-metre radius from the tunnel walls.
