Plant Hire companies benefit from local authority

It has been revealed that Kerry County Council paid out substantial amounts of funding to a number of plant hire companies in the county last year.

Among those to receive over half a million euro was Independent Fianna Fail councillor Danny Healy-Rae, whose company received E516,110 last year.

However, Healy-Rae was not the biggest benefactor as Clancy Plant Hire, Knockanure, Listowel received E590,725. In all the local authority paid out E8.14 million for contractors’ services in 2005.
