Clare quarry row ends in court
The Irish Concrete Federation (ICF) and Clare County Council will be on
opposite sides as High Court proceedings against the Local Authoritys
Development Contribution Scheme gets underway.
Clare County Council have imposed development charges on quarry operators
in the county, but the ICF are looking to freeze any charges that were
introduced since the High Court granted the judicial review.
Whelan Limestone Quarries Ltd were ordered to pay E239,000 by the council
after they secured a large scale extension to its operation in the county.
However, that payment is now frozen and all parties have appealed the
decision to An Bord Pleanala.
