Forklift travelled on M1 before robbery

The JCB style forklift used by thieves who raided a securicor van and got away with E500,000 in cash was seen travelling on the M1 motorway hours before the raid.

The raiders used the forklift to ram the windscreen of the securicor van and grab the cash in what was a well-planned operation. Gardai revealed that the forklift had travelled from Balbriggan to Dublin along the motorway.
“We’ve had a lot of witnesses coming forward saying they saw it on the M1. Whoever was driving it seems to have made no effort to hide what they were doing or where they were going,” said a garda source.

The forklift was reported stolen from a building site in Balbriggan, before the vehicle was driven to Donaghmeade where the raid took place at 1.30pm.
