1,000 ROAD DEATHS INVOLVE PEOPLE WHO WERE WORKING AT THE TIME - FLEET DRIVERS NEED MORE TRAINING

With 40 percent of crashes in the UK involving working drivers, the need for advanced driver training for employees in this day and age is huge.

Even the most competent company car driver could benefit from taking an advanced motoring test with today s roads more of a challenge than ever and driving standards variable to say the least.

DIAmond Advanced Motorists operate the DIAmond Advanced and DIAmond Special Assessment for fleet motorists.
These prestigious courses have been designed to further the driving skills and attitude of drivers and to help boost their confidence on the road.
Benefits include reduced frequency of accidents leading to lower insurance premiums, reduced vehicle running costs with lower fuel consumption and wear and tear, and reduced time lost through absenteeism brought about by stress and other driving related problems.

The tests assess better driving techniques that can help drivers lessen their stress on the roads as they concentrate on reading the road and reacting to hazards in a planned and systematic way. The advanced assessment allows a maximum of six minor faults in an hour s driving over a wide variety of road types and conditions, whereas the special assessment is an even higher standard only allowing two minor non-recurring faults.

Colin O Connell, DIAmond Advanced Motorist s Chief Examiner said: One third of the 3,500 drivers killed each year on out roads are occupational drivers; the statistics speak for themselves.
Companies have a moral obligation to do everything possible to ensure the safety of their occupational drivers.
Periodic driver assessment and training is not a luxury for companies to undertake when they can find the time and resources, it is a necessity.
By increasing awareness and improving driver behaviour it is possible for businesses to significantly reduce risk.

The DIAmond Advanced and Special Assessment has been running since 1982 and was the first of its kind to receive DSA approval because of its high standard.

DIAmond Advanced Motorists only use advanced qualified trainers and examiners to carry out their tests which are taken at venues across the country.

All routes are logged, to ensure objectivity countrywide, and follow set criteria.
