Data shows tyre industry climbing out of recession

Data produced by both Michelin and Pirelli echoes the sentiment that sales of tyres worldwide is on the up.

Michelin has reported a 13.4 per cent growth in sales year-on-year in Europe on passenger car and light commercial vehicle tyres during April 2010 and a 21.2 per cent growth in the original equipment sector.

The French manufacturer has also recorded a growth in sales for the replacement truck tyre market with growth at 22.7 per cent and and 58.8 per cent for original equipment year-on-year.

Figures to-date has shown that the replacement truck tyre market has grown 34.7 per cent while the original equipment sector showed a growth of 10.7 per cent.
