New digital tachograph to enhance fleet efficiency

Published on 21 April 2010

The VDO DTCO 1381 digital tachograph, is expected to increase fleet efficiency.

Branded as state of the art this latest generation of digital tachographs is being promoted at a special price. Using the catch phrase slogan “Go for the Champion” VDO are vigorously marketing their product. With that the market leader paves the way for vehicle owners and fleet managers to simple data handling in keeping with everyday requirements, and to a broad range of services and possible economies connected with the tachograph and what it records. The precondition is that they change to the latest model of the VDO DTCO 1381. For this reason this latest equipment generation is now available on especially favorable terms. Whether VDO tachograph or another brand: anyone changing to the new DTCO on the occasion of the biannual tachograph inspection at one of the 9,500 European VDO partner workshops between the 1st of April and the 31st of December this year will get the latest technology for an attractive replacement price. For those switching over to the latest generation DTCO will be able to make use of new equipment functions and services that make more efficient fleet management possible. For example, with a download time which is as much as two-thirds faster the latest DTCO 1381 offers substantial time savings, plus the long wished-for possibility of remote download. A download device for easy data handling is included in the package for a reduced price. All information is read out and automatically transmitted to a company’s host computer without anyone having to go from vehicle to vehicle with data cards or keys. This procedure minimizes administrative expense and the fleet manager can easily perform his statutory archiving duty. For this purpose, VDO offers two download devices tailored to every application. For vehicles that regularly return to headquarters there is a short-range device that transmits data via WLAN or short-range radio link. If, on the other hand, the vehicles are used in international long-distance haulage, the wide-range technology guarantees uncomplicated, secure data transfer via mobile communications network. The combined functionality of the new system affords fleet managers and transport firms the luxury of creating a more efficient process and the elimination of less ‘downtime’.
