Microbe find could hold key to future of biofuel
A recent discovery in the rain forest of Patagonia is said to unlock the biofuel of the future.
The reddish microbe discovered inside a tree at a secret location is already being termed ‘mycro-diesel’. It is according to a Professor Gary Strobel of Montana State University to be the only known organism that has ever been shown to produce such an important combination of fuel substances.
Harvested under laboratory conditions, the results found were indeed very impressive with many of the hydrocarbons produced by the fungus included at least eight compounds that are most abundant in diesel.
