Nightline increases services with UK Pallets link-up

Published on 21 June 2010

Customers of Irish based courier operators Nightline will see an expansion of their customer base through a link-up with UK Pallets.

The new service will see freight from all seven based Nightline’s Irish depots being distributed through the UK Pallets’ Lichfield, Staffs hub. The freight will be transport via ferry to Holyhead with goods coming into Ireland being handled by Nightline.

Nightline’s UK managing director, Geremy Ruffin said that £2.3m worth of new contracts had been secured over the past year helped by taking over client accounts from DHL Express who decided to pull out from the majority of its Irish operations in 2009.

"We are seeing a massive demand for parcels alongside pallets. Before, shipments from the UK to the Republic and Northern Ireland had to be split between two carriers," said Ruffin.

UK Mail was already its parcel partner for the UK, so appointing UK Pallets as its partner for heavier goods was "the natural choice". Currently handling fifty pallets per night for UK Pallets, Nightline expect to see this grow to twice that capacity by the end of the year.
