Postponed vote holds out hope for self-employed drivers
Published on 19 May 2010
The vote on the report by Edit Bauer (EEP, SK) on working time in the road transport sector has been now been postponed.
The report which was submitted by the EPP group, was approved by the European Parliament on Monday by 158 votes in favour, 137 against with seven abstentions. The Employment Committee had voted in April to include self-employed drivers in this legislation. There has been calls from interested groups to exclude self-employed transport operators to be exempted from this legislation.
