The company has launched a new rail service that will take a number of trucks off the road, but will add to its intermodal network across Europe.

Johan Logtenberg, managing director, Samskip Van Dieren Multimodal said: “The new service avoids the German toll road and with this service we are able to provide a unique intermodal link on every day of the week making a lead time of only two days possible.

“The distance to and from the terminals in Germany and Denmark is very short so we hardly need road haulage”, he added.

Samskip has a pan-European multimodal network via rail, shortsea, road and inland waterways. By combining its rail services with modern trucks, Samskip says that it offers a green door to door transport service covering today’s cargo needs and catering for future growth.
