“I’ve been involved in the business since I was 15 when I started out loading and unloading trucks for Kelly European,” David explains.
“That led to me becoming a driver and transport planner before setting up this business seven years ago. From humble beginnings, we have grown year-on-year to become a premier transportation and logistics firm dedicated to resolving complex shipping challenges.”
David heads up an 18-strong team which includes his wife and office manager Claire McVeigh, transport manager Kevin Doherty, transport assistant Anne Breadon and business development manager Matthew Donnan. With every parcel, package and load being precious, the company is constantly upgrading its fleet and recently took delivery of a stunning new Renault T High 520 6x2 from Diamond Trucks. Built for both comfort and performance, the truck boasts front air suspension, a luxury driver’s seat, a top light bar with headboard, and a microwave and inverter. The custom side skirts and perimeter kit was fitted by DG Engineering Truck Accessories, while Alan Croskery and Mark Lyons were responsible for the gorgeous green and white livery.
The T High has been put to work bringing consignments to and from London and the Continent, and is the latest addition to a growing fleet which ranges from small vans to artics. It follows an investment in two Schmitz Cargobull Euroliners from AT&T Rentals last year.
“Working to tight schedules, we cannot afford any unnecessary downtime, which is why we insist on only the best trucks and trailers available on the market,” the affable managing director says.
“We started out with a Renault Master Luton box van and now have three of them as well as four 26-tonne rigid trucks with sliding roofs and a dozen tractor units. The rigids are made up of two Scania, one Mercedes and one Renault, while the artics are a mix of Renault, Volvo and Scania.
“In total, we’re running 19 trucks and vans, and 23 trailers. We have two box trailers servicing the film industry and the rest are a mixture of curtainsiders, Euroliners and flats. We also have a handful of Moffett Mounty forklifts in operation.”
David continues: “Diamond Trucks are just one of a number of suppliers we enjoy an excellent working relationship with. They have always been there for us and look after our maintenance needs along with Road Trucks. Our tyres come from Modern Tyres, while we’ve also invested in new Azyra software which allows customers to track their loads at any time and is very user-friendly. It provides complete peace of mind.”
