Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre proud to be associated with Full of the Pipe

Firmly established as one of Galway’s premier commercial vehicle sales, service and repair businesses, Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre continues to go from strength to strength on the back of consistently providing operators with top-class products allied to a level of customer care that’s second to none.
Since its inception more than a quarter of a century ago, Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre has become a byword for quality, delivering exceptional truck and trailer sales, repair and maintenance services to fleet owners and operators across the west of Ireland from its well-appointed Galway base.
Synonymous with MAN and Isuzu commercial vehicles and Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated trailers, this industry-leading family business is renowned near and far for invariably offering customers outstanding levels of aftersales service, and this is one of the many reasons why Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre continues to experience growth and expansion.
The Keane family are big supporters of Full of the Pipe and hands-on director Trevor Keane is delighted that Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre will be part of the 2025 edition of Ireland’s largest truck show. Trevor will be travelling to Mondello Park for the weekend with his wife Rachel and their truck-mad young son Ethan.
Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre is on board as a sponsor of Full of the Pipe and will also be displaying some trucks and trailers at the show. It promises to be a great occasion for all concerned, not least as it’s a rare opportunity to take some time out from the hectic daily schedule that goes hand in hand with looking after customers’ every need.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be associated with Full of the Pipe and I’m sure it’s going to be another wonderful weekend,” says Rachel. “Trevor has been at the show in the past and this time we’re heading with him and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about. He’s bringing some trucks over and has been talking to Schmitz Cargobull about taking some trailers, too, so it’ll be good…”
Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre is the main dealer for Galway and the west of Ireland for MAN truck and van sales and service as well as sales and servicing of Isuzu commercial vehicles and is also a service agent for Schmitz Cargobull, having also sold a number of their trailers to customers down through the years.
These are of course premium marques and the team at Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre backs up the strength of the product by also providing a high-quality, customer- and vehicle-orientated aftersales service.
A team of 15 vastly experienced and skilled experts is on hand to make sure that Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre remains ahead of the game and their state-of-the-art commercial vehicle workshop located between Athenry and Monivea is always a hive of activity.
“We’re doing a lot of bodywork and refrigerated trailer repairs and Trevor is in the process of putting up a brand-new workshop which will be dedicated specifically to that,” Rachel notes.
Although one is inclined to automatically think of trucks when MAN is mentioned, it’s worth noting that the manufacturer is also renowned for excellent light commercials. Offering a perfect solution for almost every field of application, the MAN TGE van is in big demand these days…
“The MAN TGE vans have been selling very well so far this year,” Rachel confirms. “We’ve been selling a lot of those in 2025 and that’s been keeping us particularly busy.”
Once a sale is agreed, Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre offers unbeatable service for the lifetime of that vehicle, ensuring that all units continue to perform at their optimal level. “We provide extensive backup services and that’s why we’re the busiest garage in Galway. Because of all the repairs we do and the reputation we have, we’re booked out for weeks in advance and have great contracts with many local fleet operators.”
To make sure that everybody receives the best-possible service and to keep quality control completely in-house, Trevor has recently invested in a recovery vehicle. “He used to subcontract that out, but he’s doing it himself now, so there are no unnecessary delays in getting customers back on the road.”
It’s fair to say that Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre has every possible base covered when it comes to looking after customers. “You have to think of everything when you have so many contracts that you value highly,” says Rachel.
As an independent family business that started from scratch and has built itself up through honest endeavour and unswerving customer care, Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre possesses the inherent ethos that’s associated with traditional Irish family businesses – essentially looking after people.
“Trevor’s dad Mattie started up the business and he originally did refrigeration. Trevor took over last year and Mattie is still very much involved as well. Mattie’s wife used to do the accounts but she now looks after Ethan for us so that I can go in and work in the business. So it’s a big team effort.
“I started with him in 2016 when we were getting married and there was a guy in the stores leaving and Trevor asked me did I want to join. I initially said ‘no way’ but thought it over and joined and I have to say it’s been great. We’re very busy but we have a lot of great customers and you do what you can for them because their custom is very much appreciated.”
As truckers from the length and breadth of Ireland and beyond descend upon Mondello Park over the second weekend of July to celebrate Full of the Pipe 2025, Athenry Truck & Refrigeration Centre will be honoured to play a small part in what promises to be a magnificent occasion!
