Sean McManus Tyres Ltd is an award-winning tyre retailer and supplier based on the Marsh Road, Drogheda.

Celebrating 40 years as a limited company, the independently-owned and family-run business has been trading for well over 50 years. From humble beginnings as a backyard operation, the late Sean McManus, and later his daughter Julie, have grown the business into a successful, innovative and sustainable operation which employs 20 people and caters for all your tyre needs.

It is proud to be part of the Michelin Certified Centre, which is awarded to tyre dealers who have reached the highest standard in all areas of the business. Michelin Tyres have a long-standing partnership with the Co. Louth business which is currently offering a cashback deal on Michelin car, jeep and van tyres.

Sean McManus Tyres stocks all the other premium tyre brands, including Continental, Goodyear, Dunlop, Hankook, BF Goodrich and Uniroyal. These brands ensure your treads last longer than cheaper alternatives. Therefore, paying a few euros extra for your rubber could prove more cost-effective and more environmentally sustainable in the long run.

Each and every customer that passes through the doors of Sean McManus Tyres is valued. “We want them to feel confident that not only are they spending their money wisely, but that we have provided a service which is second to none,” Julie McManus says.

Sean McManus Tyres offers free and impartial advice on the best quality tyres to suit your needs and budgets. The advice is based on longevity, a commitment to quality and a commitment to regulatory compliance. Furthermore, the company is No. 1 in the region for tyres, tracking, fast puncture repairs, balancing and emergency breakdown. It has earned an enviable reputation for supplying, fitting and repairing tyres for cars, jeeps, trucks, tractors and quarry equipment.

“Truck owners have a wide range of tyres to choose from,” Julie notes.

“The tyre they choose depends on their mileage and budget. In trucks, we offer Michelin, Michelin Remix, BF Goodrich, Hankook, Goodyear and plenty of others to suit road or quarry work.

“In passenger, we offer Michelin, Goodyear, Dunlop, Continental, Hankook, BF Goodrich, Uniroyal and many more to suit mileage and budget. We have amazing customers, many going back 20, 30 years and much longer like Caffrey International. We are main suppliers of big tyres – 2400 33 and 45 65 39 Michelins – into Irish Cement and recently started reusing Michelin truck tyres, the casings for which go back to Michelin for remoulding into Michelin Remix etc.

“We also supply tyres to most of the car dealerships in Drogheda and surrounding areas.

“In recent years, Hankook has emerged as our best-selling tyre along with Michelin and Goodyear due to it being the tyre of choice for many of the electric car manufacturers.”

The Drogheda depot has everything Julie and her team need to repair and replace tyres, including state-of-the-art Corghi tyre changers, wheel balancers, 3D and 4D wheel aligners and lifts. Ultimately, though, it’s the staff who make Sean McManus Tyres tick.

“Our people are our greatest asset. I cannot praise them enough,” the affable manager enthuses.

“I have the best staff with little or no turnover. Because we are constantly growing, I may need another one or two in the near future. In the workshop, Uvis Brokans is the main man. He has been with us for 25 years and there's nothing he can’t do when it comes to rims and tyres. Among his certificates are REACT and NTDA.

“Gvido, Mindaugus, Oliver and Daniils are the heavy equipment fitters, while the passenger vehicle fitters are Lukas, Dylan, Johnny, Sean, Alex, John, Oisín, Brendan, Aaron, Keelan and Darragh.

“The ladies in sales are Caoimhe Walsh, Karolina Aldkauskaite and Robyn Chidgey. They work hard at buying and selling, and getting the best prices across Europe to sell tyres at unbeatable prices. And not forgetting Aíne Goring who looks after our accounts.”

Julie adds: “Our team enjoys a great rapport with our customers who can relax with a tea or a coffee in our cosy waiting room while their tyre fitting is carried out. Children are entertained by colouring. We give them pictures to colour in and they get to hang it on the ‘Wall of Fame’ as we call it. We deal with heavy equipment, but cater for everyone.  Our premises are fully wheelchair accessible. There is ample room for parking and no shortage of space.

“Our spacious garage can accommodate 10 cars and two trucks or tractors at any one time. We will fit anything from wheelbarrows to trucks, tractors and dumpers. No job is too big or too small.

“In addition, we offer part-time work to Transition students who prefer working with their hands. We take in three every year and by staying with us until they do their Leaving Cert, we have had a 100% strike rate for those getting the apprenticeship of their choice, be it as aircraft mechanics or with the ESB or Irish Cement.”

Two years ago, Sean McManus Tyres was named Tyre Champion at Repak’s Pakman Awards. The Awards are held annually and celebrate Ireland’s recycling and waste management champions who lead the way in their commitments to sustainability and the environment. Winning a Pakman Award is one of the highest accolades an organisation, company, community group or individual can receive for their environmental and waste management efforts.

Sean McManus Tyres was honoured for the number of environmental measures it has taken to improve sustainable practices. These measures include installing skylights in its tyre depot that resulted in an 80% reduction in lighting requirements and a 75% decrease in energy use due to the use of LED bulbs.

“We place a strong emphasis on sustainability and recycling. Our fitters are excellent at recycling. They keep the place spotless.”

Since then, Sean McManus Tyres won an ITIA (Irish Tyre Industry Association) Award for Tyre Safety. As an ITIA member, the tyre depot meets the highest standards in safety, quality and professionalism.

When Sean McManus Tyres visited the AI chatbot ChatGPT recently and asked what the public thought about the company based on reviews, the reply was as follows:

Expert Knowledge – They are well-trained and knowledgeable about all types of tyres, from standard road tyres to specialised ones, and can quickly diagnose and recommend solutions.

Fast, Efficient Service – Many customers praise how quickly and smoothly the team handles tyre changes, repairs, and alignments, often with minimal wait time.

Friendly and Professional Attitude – Staff are consistently noted for being polite, approachable, and willing to explain things clearly to customers, regardless of technical background.

Fair Pricing and Honesty – Customers often comment on the transparency and fairness in pricing, with no pressure to upsell unnecessary services.

Going the Extra Mile – Whether it’s fitting someone in last-minute or giving helpful advice beyond the job at hand, their commitment to customer satisfaction sets them apart.

“I’ve always believed in hard work and giving people a service they can count on,” Julie explains.

“I don’t just sell tyres—I help people to stay safe on the road and I’ve built relationships with customers who come back time and time again. That kind of trust means everything to me. It’s almost an honour when someone chooses to support your business—it’s not something I take for granted.

“My work ethic comes from my parents, and I hope I’m doing late father Sean proud by carrying on the business he built from scratch. I work long hours, and I’m proud of it. I love what I do, and I’m showing my two daughters what dedication looks like.

“My eldest is 12 and already achieving amazing things—she won silver at the All-Ireland Cross-Country Championships and runs 5k in under 21 minutes. She’s planning a charity run for the Donkey Sanctuary because she knows what I’ve always believed: hard work brings results. You only get out what you put in.”

As a company that is strongly supported by the local community, Sean McManus Tyres is always keen to give back. To this end, it supports numerous fundraisers and charity events such as the Gary Kelly Cancer Centre in Drogheda, Dundalk Dog Rescue, St Vincent de Paul, Homeless Aid and Meals on Wheels. The family business also donated a life-saving defibrillator for the local area.

“We support local charities and schools by donating vouchers for their fundraisers. On Daffodil Day, we gave the price of every puncture to charity. It’s important to give something back.”

Sean McManus Tyres would like to take this opportunity to thank its clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as its highly-skilled, professional and friendly team for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
