New Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 arrives in Ireland
16/10/2025

With the arrival of their award-winning eActros 600 truck, the Mercedes-Benz has cracked-open the reality of battery-electric long-distance goods transportation, within Ireland and further afield to the UK and Europe, whilst opening new pathways to profit and a new more economic operational environment for fleet buyers and owner operators.
Sleek, aerodynamic, and visually arresting, the eActros 600’s arrival was welcomed by Fergus Conheady, Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales manager at Motor Distributors Limited who described it as “a long-distant hauler, wholly in the mould of its diesel-powered Actros stablemate, that will prove its value to heavy haulage fleet owners for whom economy and profitability are of primary importance”.
“Against the goal of Mercedes-Benz drive towards decarbonization by electrifying more and more transport applications, the eActros 600 will set in motion the development of new variants that will meet the diverse needs of customers for battery-electric trucks, especially in relation to payload and range,” Conheady said.
“In addition, alone and as the basis for those new Mercedes-Benz truck variants, the eActros 600 flagship will make an immeasurable contribution towards the achievement of Ireland’s and the world’s net-zero ambitions,” he added.
A particularly important factor in every transport choice is the appeal a vehicle will have for long-distance drivers. In this regard, the eActros 600 scores on a number of vital fronts.
Amongst its many features are its high battery capacity of over 600 kilowatt hours (kWh) (hence the model designation 600), and its new, ‘particularly efficient’ electric drive axle which enables drivers to achieve a range of 500 kilometers without intermediate charging – a range proven in tests hauling weight of 40 tonnes under realistic conditions, and one Mercedes-Benz claims could be significantly exceeded depending on driving style and route.
Fitted with three lithium-iron battery packs (LFP), characterised by their long service life, each with 207 kWh capacity that, when combined, represents an installed total capacity of 621 kWh of which 95 percent can be used with LFP technology thereby enabling a higher range with the same amount of installed battery capacity. Indeed, it is claimed that, with intermediate charging during statutory driver breaks, the eActros 600 could cover in excess of 1,000 kilometers per day.
Other aspects likely to appeal to drivers are its comprehensive and proven range of driver assistance systems, its Multimedia Interactive 2 Cockpit, electric drive axle, and lithium-iron phosphate battery cell technology, known for its long service life and 800-volt on-board voltage. Technically designed for a gross combination mass of up to 44 tons, with a standard semitrailer, the eActros 600 has a payload of around 22 tons within the EU, and higher in countries where regulations allow.
Tested in a 15,000-kilometer all-electric development trip across 22 countries and over 6,500 kilometers through Northern Europe – each with a gross combination mass of 40 tonnes – it was voted International Truck of the Year 2025 in which context its electric drive axle and LFP cell technology were decisive factors.
