Renovation plans and equipment upgrade in the pipeline for Interparts

Established in 1984, Interparts Drumalee Ltd remains a one-stop shop for all commercial testing, repairs, maintenance, and parts needs. Irish Trucker recently caught up with Financial Controller Donal McAdam to learn more about the renovation and equipment upgrade plans scheduled for the company’s Cavan headquarters later this year. 

Over the past four decades, Interparts has earned a reputation for reliability and service excellence, building long-term relationships with customers that continue to stand the test of time. The company currently employs 40 full-time staff between its two locations: the main base on the Dublin Road just outside Cavan Town (H12 Y8N1), and its Dublin depot at Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole (D24 H265), which opened in 2021. 

Founded by Managing Director Joe Gormley, Interparts has grown steadily over the years and is now regarded as one of the leading CVRT test centres in its region. The company offers a wide range of services and continues to expand to meet growing customer demand. 

“Business is going very well — we’re extremely busy, thankfully,” said Anna Marie Costello, Test Centre Manager in Cavan. “We now have a dedicated team of five full-time testers on site.” 

Donal McAdam echoed the sentiment, highlighting strong performance in the company’s parts division. “Our parts department has seen tremendous growth. We’ve established a depot in Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, Dublin, and it’s been incredibly busy.” 

He also noted that the company’s online presence has become a key driver. “We launched an online web shop during Covid, and it has really taken off. We’re now dispatching a large volume of orders daily, reaching customers in every county, town, and village across Ireland.” 

While Interparts is an official DAF agent and naturally stocks a full range of DAF parts, it also supplies components for all makes and models. Over the past year, the company has added Milwaukee tools to its offerings — a move that has proven to be a strong performer within the parts division. We have just opened in September a new Tool and accessories retail shop on our forecourt, and this has started off very well 

Interparts is a certified NSAI and ATC testcentre, and is authorised to carry out all LCV, HCV, ADR, and Fast Tractor testing. The company also offers voluntary safety checks ahead of official CVRT tests, if requested by the customer. In addition to its core testing services, Interparts provides vehicle servicing, repairs, tachograph fitting, breakdown assistance, speed limiter installation, and vehicle plating. The company supplies new DAF trucks from the XF, CF, and LF ranges on request and also offers a variety of used commercial vehicles. Contract hire and repair & maintenance (R&M) agreements are also available. 

The company’s expansion into Dublin in 2021 was a major step forward, extending Interparts’ reach across the capital and greater Leinster region. The Rathcoole depot, managed by father-and-son team Pat and Damien O’Connell , has continued to thrive since its launch four years ago. 

Looking ahead, Interparts is now preparing to upgrade its Cavan base with new renovations and equipment installations starting later this year. “We have a plan and we’re starting renovations in October,” Donal confirmed. “We’re extending our test centre and adding an additional two lanes onto it. That should be ready by the end of Spring 2026.” 

In tandem with the test centre expansion, the company is also investing in brand-new testing equipment. “As part of that job, we are upgrading our whole equipment lineup. It just shows the demand that’s out there for our services and also highlights the loyalty of our customer base,” Donal added. 

From its modest beginnings in a shed behind Joe Gormley’s house in Co Cavan to becoming a trusted service provider with a state-of-the-art parts department and over 40,000 items in stock, Interparts has come a long way. Its continued success has been supported by a thriving online shop and a growing presence in Dublin. 

When asked about the key to Interparts’ longevity, Donal points to a consistent approach to service and reliability. “First and foremost, it’s our longevity — we’ve been around a long time, and we are tried and trusted. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and we genuinely aim to take care of our customers as best we can.” 

He also noted the experience and dedication of the Interparts team. “Our team includes experienced mechanics, and we carry out work for a wide range of companies. We service everything — from cars and vans to large and small trucks, across all makes and models. We also work closely with leasing companies, which is a growing part of our business.”
