Adhering to the “we can’t move heaven, but we can move earth” mantra, Bill Enright Ltd in Bantry, Co. Cork is a one-stop shop for all your civil works, earthworks and plant hire needs.
Founded in 2009 by a then 17-year-old Bill Enright and operating in the Munster region, the company has a proven track record in delivering projects across a range of sectors on time and within budget. Bill Enright Ltd’s core ethos is not just to meet clients’ expectations, but to exceed them, making it the partner of choice for many. With an ever-expanding client-base, the West Cork firm prides itself in maintaining strong relationships and ensuring complete client and end-user satisfaction.
Understanding the unique requirements of every client, Bill and his highly-skilled and motivated team endeavour to offer an unrivalled service. High output and exceptional finish are a given with the company which offers an all-inclusive service from major muck shifting to civil engineering to residential development and formwork.
No matter the size of the job, Bill Enright Ltd has the expertise, manpower and machinery to undertake and complete it. Its extensive range of services include muck shifting, rock-breaking, site development, formwork, civil and contracting works, groundworks, site restoration, residential work, topsoil (supply and delivery) and land reclamation.
“We’re not the cheapest, but we are one of the most efficient plant hire companies of our size in Ireland. We offer a first-class service and first-class plant,” says Bill, who is an old head on young shoulders.
“We can price a job from start to finish. We’ve handed over many turnkey commercial and industrial projects, including a new Inver Filling Station in Leap, Co. Cork for Keith Cronin, the four-time British Rally champion.
“From humble beginnings in 2009 when I bought my first mini-digger and added a jeep and trailer the following year, we’ve grown to employ 14 people who are supported and supplemented by about the same number of subcontractors. My father Jerry, who is an accountant by profession, and mother Catherine, have given me invaluable advice and guidance down through the years. I’ve a great team around me that includes Tracey Powell in the office.
"And not forgetting my girlfriend Sharon who does a lot of work behind-the-scenes that doesn't go unnoticed.
“Having initially specialised in plant hire, our services now range from civils and deep drainage to earthworks, wind farm and recycling works. We enjoy an excellent relationship with our clients who include Keith Cronin, CLBK Construction, Westbrook Housing Company, John O’Donovan Welding Services, Bantry Skip Hire, Gloun Stone Quarries, Finbarr O’Neill Ltd, Cahalane Bros (Dunmanway) and Keohane Readymix to name but a few.”
Bill Enright Ltd provides a fleet of top-of-the-range Komatsu, CAT and Volvo excavators ranging from 1 tonne to 54 tonnes along with an assortment of dumpers, rollers and jaw crushers. The company’s varied fleet allows it to carry out private and commercial projects of all sizes.
“We have 35 items of plant suitable for all types of work,” Bill explains.
The West Cork operation also runs a small fleet of trucks, including two stunning new Scanias – a G500XT rigid and a 770S tipper – which were purchased from T Nolan & Sons in Castleisland in July. Bill brought both along to the Tipperary Truck Show in September and was both surprised and delighted to see the G500XT claim first prize in the ‘Best Construction Spec’ and ‘Best New Rigid’ categories. His other trucks are a 2006-registered Volvo FM12 tipper and a 2007-registered Volvo FH16 artic.
“It was a lovely surprise to get,” he fondly recalls.
“It was our first time to attend the Tipperary Truck Show, let alone enter. But I had always heard great reports about it and was delighted to be able to go this year after Dermot O’Mahony of Tony O’Mahony Agri Plant & Haulage in Bandon got three tickets for John Pooley, Sharon and I. John brought the G500XT and I drove the 770S.
“We stayed over on the Saturday night and had a brilliant time. It’s a great social occasion. I was thrilled to see Tony O’Mahony Agri Plant & Haulage and Keohane Readymix also win prizes as we’d work closely with them. We also work with Humphrey Dowling of Dowling Quarries and they had a lovely Scania high cab mixer entered as well.
“All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience and we’ll definitely be back next year, hopefully with all four lorries.”
As Bill Enright Ltd continues to go from strength to strength, its affable managing director would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their unwavering support as well as his expert team for their hard work and dedication.
