Corduff Travel celebrates 85 years on the road
18/03/2026
Celebrating 85 years of excellence, Corduff Travel marked the milestone by winning Coach Operator of the Year in the ‘Town City Service & Local Link Provider’ category at the 2026 Fleet Bus & Coach Awards which were held in the Johnstown Estate in Enfield, Co. Meath recently.
No stranger to winning prestigious accolades – it was named Passenger Transport Company of the Year at the same awards 12 months previously – Corduff Travel continues to go from strength to strength by offering luxury coach hire, private tours and group transport across Ireland. From humble beginnings in 1940 when Michael Corduff started with one minibus as a local transportation provider in Rossport, Co. Mayo, the third-generation family business has grown to run a modern fleet of 200 vehicles and employ the same number of people.
The company’s growth has been accelerated by the acquisition of Kilkenny-based M&A Coaches in September 2024 and the awarding of new Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link contracts. It also acquired the former eircom building on the Breaffy Road in Castlebar in early 2024 as part of its continued expansion.
“These are exciting times for Corduff Travel and we were absolutely thrilled to win the Coach Operator of the Year Award,” managing director Michael Corduff Jnr enthuses.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to safety, reliability and exceptional service for every passenger who travels with us. A huge thank you to our dedicated team, our loyal customers and everyone who continues to support Corduff Travel on the road.
“Here’s to raising standards, delivering excellence and driving forward together.”
The acquisition of M&A Coaches has brought an additional 47 coaches under Corduff Travel’s wing and has seen it extend its TFI Local Link services to Kilkenny and Laois as well as in Dublin, Cavan, Leitrim and Mayo. In addition, the company offers a range of private and luxury coach services for tours, events, airport transfers and private hire across Ireland. Its services include airport transfers to Dublin, Shannon and Knock along with general transport for corporate and private clients.
“We’re currently operating 140 school contracts on a daily basis in Kilkenny, Mayo, Dublin and Galway on behalf of Bus Éireann, who we have built a very strong relationship with over the years,” Michael explains.
“We also operate commuter and Expressway services for Bus Éireann. The commuter services are mostly out of Dublin, while the Expressway services are out of Dublin, Galway, Sligo, Waterford and Wexford to name but a few. We also have a contract with the Marathon Group for private hire and sports travel.”
With operational bases in Rossport, Castlebar and Dublin, Corduff Travel is seen in all areas of the community from school transportation, Local Link runs such as HSE services, rural transportation high-frequency routes to a range of private services. The firm offers a wide range of vehicles from seven-seat Ford Galaxy cars to 70-seat Scania and Mercedes luxury coaches.
“We strive to meet the needs of every passenger in a safe, affordable and reliable manner,” says Michael Jnr, who has been running the family business since 2013.
“We continue to upgrade the fleet on a regular basis. To this end, we have a number of low-floor buses on order for 2026 from Alexander Dennis in the UK that will serve some of our Local Link routes, as well as a number of Higer 42-seat coaches on order from the Harris Group.
“We are also in the process of refurbishing the old eircom building and site in Castlebar, and transforming it into a new state-of-the-art heavy goods workshop and office.”
To say that the fleet is luxurious would be an understatement. The larger coaches boast toilet, WiFi, TV / video and air conditioning facilities along with reclining seats. These coaches are spacious and comfortable with large luggage capacity. Safety features include seat belts and ABS braking systems. Many of the coaches are also wheelchair accessible, while the award-winning bus operator’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its investment in new electric models.
Whether travelling on a long or short journey, passengers will arrive at their destination feeling relaxed and stress-free. From the smallest contract bus to the largest executive coach, the fleet is the best in the business.
Asked what the secret to Corduff Travel’s success is, the affable Mayo man replies: “Our modern fleet and people are our greatest asset. Any award that we’ve won is down to the dedication and professionalism of our drivers, mechanics, cleaners, operations and office staff.
“Passengers look for coaches that are reliable on the road, flexible drivers and we provide all of that and are consistent on that. Operating safety is our priority, it’s our motto and we’ve put a lot of hard work into it.”
Michael is joined in the family business by his brother Padraig, who is also a company director based in Dublin, and sister Maria, who is social media manager. Their father Michael isn’t involved, but runs two buses of his own in Belmullet. Other key personnel include financial director Siobhan O’Hara and workshop foreman Martin Hyland.
As it celebrates a landmark anniversary and another awards success, Corduff Travel would like to take this opportunity to thank its passengers and suppliers for their continued support as well as its staff for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
Here’s to the next 85 years!
