Through the consistent delivery of exceptional commercial vehicle repair and maintenance services, Tom Lynch Commercials has quickly earned a fantastic reputation as an industry-leading, family-run business. With more and more customers coming on board to avail of their unbeatable services, Irish Trucker popped into Dunboyne and touched base with Diana Walsh Lynch for an update.

From their well-appointed HQ in Dunboyne, hugging the Dublin-Meath border, Tom Lynch Commercials provide prompt, professional and value-added truck and van maintenance and repairs services, assisting an ever-growing customer base in the day-to-day upkeep of their precious vehicles and fleets.

As well as running their own busy garage, Tom and his team pride themselves on providing a fast and efficient mobile call-out service across the greater Dublin area, which sees a large percentage of the repair and servicing work carried out quickly and conveniently on the client’s own sites.

Convenience is at the very core of everything Tom Lynch Commercials (TLC) stands for. Their fresh and fully-equipped mobile service units are on the road every day, with the vast range of services covering servicing and repairs to all makes and models of commercial vehicles, diagnostics, twelve-week inspections – and everything and anything in between.

If you own or operate a truck or van – or a fleet of them - Tom Lynch Commercials can provide a package that puts you, the customer, at the centre and works around your busy schedule to avoid downtime whilst simultaneously offering dependable, value-added services.

Tom and his wife Diana have been running this superb family business since January, 2024, having taken over ownership of the former Express Truck Repairs, which was operated by John Sutton, who is now part of the Tom Lynch Commercials team and a huge mentor to Tom and Diana.

The newly launched business hit the ground running and has been a wonderful success on the back of giving customers an unbelievable level of service and vehicle care, with the call-out service in particular proving extremely beneficial and popular.

The positive feedback invariably received and glowing endorsements through recommendations and word of mouth have helped Tom and co. take on more customers. Thus, growth has been the story of the past couple of years:

“It’s got bigger since we last spoke six months into this journey,” confirms Diana. “Last November, we hired a new technician, Nico, and he’s a brilliant worker who has brought a lot to the business and helped us to get through the work quicker. We also took a local lad on for his Summer holidays, Alfie, and when he finishes school he would like to become an apprentice at TLC.

“As we were getting through our existing work faster, I took the opportunity of sending out a price list and we managed to take on two major new contracts on the back of that. To complement the work we already had, Solve Logistics and Dyno-Rod also joined us.

“We are now with both of those customers from Monday to Friday looking after their fleets and also on call for breakdowns, etc. These are two key contracts that have brought a lot of extra business our way – Dyno-Rod provide a specialist drain cleaning and jetting service and have up to 45 vans and three trucks on the road throughout Ireland, while Solve Logistics have hundreds of units on the road.

“When you put that together with our existing business of Strathroy Dairies, Direct Haulage, HCO, KLM, Jim Corcoran, Alan & Tony Bus Hire (Aardvark) and many more, we are certainly being kept going.”

Tom Lynch Commercials were delighted to make the final shortlist for the 2025 South Dublin County Business Awards. Recognising and celebrating the success of the business community in South Dublin County, this gala awards presentation took place in The Maldron Hotel, Tallaght on Thursday, October 16th and Tom Lynch Commercials made a big impression in a category that’s particularly close to their hearts - Best Family-Owned & Managed Business.

“It was nice to be shortlisted down to the final eight and we were pleased to be involved in that category,” Diana confirms. “As we are in the South Dublin Chamber catchment area, we were invited to put in a submission and we chose to go into that category as we feel it represents us best, as a family business.

“Our son and daughter, Cameron and Kayla, are both involved in the business and my mam Anne and dad Ronnie live close by the garage so they are always there with us when we need them. It’s something that means a lot to us – being a family business and giving that person service and attention to detail to all of our customers.”

Further growth is very much on the cards for Tom Lynch Commercials, with their services in big demand and new contracts having been secured, but they may have to bide their time until the right opening presents itself:

“We have become a lot busier, so we’re trying to find larger premises,” Diana confirms. “We’re not having too much luck with that so far, but we’ll keep at it and hopefully something will come up soon. If we could get into bigger premises, then I’m sure we could hire more staff.

“We’ve been on the look-out for new mechanics too, but again they are not easy to find. So we’ll be staying as we are for the time being, although there’s definitely scope there to expand the business.”

For now, Tom Lynch Commercials is generating full-time employment for a team of five. Specialising in Mercedes Actros but also covering DAF, Scania, Iveco and literally all light and heavy commercial vehicles, TLC is the go-to one-stop shop for all commercial vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repair needs, with wherever possible all services delivered on customers’ site using their fully-kitted out mobile call-out units.

“We’re trying to expand and get bigger because there is thankfully strong demand for our services,” Diana concludes. “Everything is very positive at the moment. All our customers are happy with us, and that’s the main thing.

“They are doing Google Reviews, using their social media pages to give us positive reviews, and letting us put pictures up on our own website. The feedback is universally positive right across the board and that’s extremely reassuring.”
