Paul Nash Travel (Coach & Minibus Hire) in Claregalway, Co. Galway is an exceptional family-run business which was delighted to be a finalist in the Irish Family Business Awards.

Fronted by father-and-son Paul and Rónán Nash, the company was shortlisted for the prestigious Transport & Logistics Family Business of the Year Award. Now in its seventh year and with over 350 entries, the Irish Family Business Awards has established itself as a premier event recognising the dedication, innovation and resilience of family-run enterprises throughout Ireland. The awards celebrate the vital role these businesses play in the economy and local communities across the island.

Furthermore, these awards highlight the passion and enthusiasm that Irish family businesses exhibit daily, contributing to the growth and vitality of the Irish economy. From start-ups to multi-generational enterprises, the Irish Family Business Awards recognise and honour companies that have promoted growth, created jobs and demonstrated remarkable determination.

Paul Nash Travel, incorporating Travel Trips & Tours Ltd, represents the very best of Irish family business values where quality and customer satisfaction are paramount. From humble beginnings in January 2008, the company has grown to run a modern fleet of 31 coaches, buses and executive cars, and employs 30 full-time and part-time drivers. The growth has been driven by an unwavering commitment to customer service, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and competent drivers and, of course, word of mouth.

With Paul Nash Travel, bus and minibus hire is available on a private and contract basis. The business is licensed for national and international travel. Whether you are interested in tours, airport transfers, private bus hire for hen and stag parties, wedding bus hire, corporate events transportation, school tours or Irish sporting events, Paul and Rónán can meet all your travel needs.

“We’re absolutely delighted,” Rónán says of the Irish Family Business Awards nomination.

“It’s humbling and shows just how far we’ve come. It’s all down to our amazing customers and staff who support us on a daily basis. Something like this reignites that fire to grow further and better ourselves even more.

“We pride ourselves on being a family business where Paul and I deal directly with the customer. When they ring up, they get one or other of us. This ensures everything runs smoothly. There is no middle man. We stand by our mantra which is ‘Let our family look after yours’.”

Paul Nash Travel has come a long way since its inception almost 18 years ago.

“My father took over an existing business from Madge Burke who he had been doing part-time driving for,” Rónán explains.

“The recession had just hit and he had taken redundancy from his main employers which he reinvested in the four buses he bought from Madge. They were a 2006-reg Mercedes Vario, which is still going strong, a 2002-reg Mercedes Sprinter, a 1999-reg Ford Transit and a 1996-reg Vario.

“He ran the business along with my mother Josephine before I came on board in 2017 and replaced her as a director. I had been training to be a teacher when I suffered a serious back injury in a car accident. As soon as I started in the family business, I fell in love with it. I enjoy dealing with the customers and the other drivers. I enjoy the rapport with them and getting out to see a bit of the country as well. We work long hours, but wouldn’t do it if we didn’t enjoy it.

“Our new and existing customers appreciate the fact that every single booking goes through either myself or dad. That personal touch goes a long way.”

The Co. Galway operator’s impressive fleet ranges from an eight-seater Limousine to a 87-seater double decker Van Hool Astromega, and everything in between. The high-capacity fleet also includes 72-seat (x2), 65-seat, 59-seat (x3), 55-seat and 53-seat (x2) coaches that are inspected, serviced and maintained on a regular basis to ensure breakdowns are a rarity. The coaches are a mix of Volvo, DAF, Van Hool, Mercedes and Iveco. They include a selection of wheelchair accessible buses, while the executive coaches offer air conditioning, WIFI, audio/video facilities, WC facilities and comfortable reclining seats with ample leg room.

School transport contracts with Bus Éireann have been central to Paul Nash Travel's growth and success.

“School runs are our ‘bread and butter’,” Rónán points out.

“We do school runs throughout our area for Bus Éireann. We also provide transport services for students attending NUIG, ATU and GTI in Galway. In addition, we cater for bespoke tours, chauffeur hire, wheelchair accessible transport, corporate travel, cruise ship, airport, wedding and VIP transfers, sports travel and private hire. Our day tours to the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and other tourist attractions have become very popular in recent times.

“We’re always adapting and moving forward. Our drivers, who are the heartbeat of the operation, and are always smartly dressed, efficient, friendly and helpful,” the affable director continues.

“Whether you’re planning a day trip, organising extended tours or arranging transfers, we offer flexible options to suit your individual requirements with professional and experienced drivers. Our simple booking process ensures hassle-free access to quality transport for any occasion.”

The award-nominated business is committed to providing passengers with the highest safety standards, with each coach fitted with seat belts and the latest safety features. All drivers are fully trained, courteous and professional in every aspect of their job. They undergo regular training in driving practice and health & safety.

Whether travelling on a long or short journey, passengers will arrive at their destination feeling relaxed and stress-free with Paul Nash Travel. From the smallest vehicle to the largest executive coach, their drivers and fleet are the best in the business.
