“People came in from their lorries and they just swarmed the stage!

A high-energy musical outfit with a deep-rooted passion for trucking, Danny Byrne Band rocked Full of the Pipe into the early hours on their show debut in 2025. The fastest growing band on the Irish music scene are fully loaded and ready to make a triumphant return to Mondello Park in July, ’26.
It’s fair to say that Danny Byrne Band’s unique style of high energy modern folk went down a storm at Full of the Pipe last year. Working truckers themselves, Danny, Budgie and the boys got everybody moving with their typically high-octane performance. The audience had a ball and the band enjoyed themselves even more!
Reflecting on what was surely one of the highlights of the year for Danny Byrne Band, eponymous frontman Danny’s voice still tremble with a discernible trace of emotion as he comments:
“Last year was great … to play in front of people that maybe wouldn’t have seen us otherwise. There was a lot of people there from Scotland and England, and places where people might have listened to us on Spotify but mightn’t have got a chance to see us.”
Danny Byrne Band and trucks go together hand in hand and Danny agrees that playing at Full of the Pipe is very much a match made in heaven – a busman’s holiday, if you will…
“We love to do anything to do with trucking because myself and Budgie drive lorries. I have two on the road myself; Budgie drives for another fella. So we love that sort of craic and it’s good to be involved in it and it’s good to be asked back again.”
Fittingly for a band known far and wide for the party anthem ‘Up All Night’, they did exactly what was written on the proverbial tin when answering Kevin and Colin’s call to entertain their fellow truckers in 2025. Fond memories were created that will live long in the minds of all who were there enjoying the night and celebrating what it means to be a trucker!
“Last year was great … there was people on top of tables, they were dancing into the early hours of the morning,” Danny enthuses. “It was great craic, people came in from their lorries and they just swarmed the stage. It was warm, it was fun, it was a great gig.”
In keeping with the well-worn adage that if it ain’t broken then why fix it, Danny Byrne Band will be aiming for more of the same when they return to the main stage at Mondello over the second weekend of July, 2025. Those who were there last year are keenly looking forward to a repeat, while anybody who’ll be taking in this electrifying band for the first time is equally in for a real treat:
“For anyone that seen last year’s show, and enjoyed last year’s show, it’ll be the same sort of energy,” Danny promises, before teasing the prospect of an exclusive or two:
“We’re always adding in new songs. We’ve a couple of new songs coming out this year, so we probably will have them out for the time Full of the Pipe comes ‘round. There’s one I wrote myself coming out in the summer time, so it should be out before Full of the Pipe.”
Danny’s association with the show goes back many years. He performed at FOTP in Punchestown as a solo singer in the past and also recorded a song called ‘Full of the Pipe’.
Before being booked to play at last year’s show he was habitually bringing his trusty Scania 164 - which pulls the trailer with all the music equipment and doubles up as a show lorry – to Full of the Pipe. Also operating a second Scania as well as the Danny Byrne Band van, the lads know their way around commercial vehicles.
Delivering an eclectic and truly invigorating mix of dieseled-up contemporary and traditional Irish folk, the boys from South Armagh – who never fail to get the crowd going – were regular visitors to Full of the Pipe already before being invited to perform there as a collective for the first time in 2025.
To get the opportunity of performing at Ireland’s premier truck show for two successive years is a real honour and one that Danny will not be taking lightly.
Preparations are underway to make sure that another sensational performance is delivered and there’s no doubting that the force of nature that is Danny Byrne Band will be tuned up to full power and maximum decibels for Full of the Pipe 2026.
What can we expect from Danny Byrne Band at Full of the Pipe 2026? “I’d say it’s just going to be a night’s craic. The egos get left at the door and we’re out for a good night’s craic and we hope everybody else enjoys it as well.”
